Ebooks (separate from website content, 8 ebooks plus 4 earlier versions of some of them)
All ebooks published through www.bookofdunbarra.co.uk were published from the UK
In addition to The Book of Dunbarra being a book in itself in a sense, this website is also the publishing platform for most of my other publications. The twelve other ebooks are dowloadable further down this page. Except for the earlier four books at the bottom of this page (which are earlier versions but with better image quality), the other eight, listed first and below, do not repeat content, and have a very large number of individual articles and topics, including Celtic languages, several dialects of Scottish Gaelic as individual topics, information about different Nordic languages and dialects, information about many other languages , examples of other languages including indigenous American languages (Nuxalk, Halkomelem, Quechua, Yucatec Mayan, Navajo (many other indigenous American languages are included but without example sentences)), archaeological information, ancient history, possible links across languages, spirituality, philosophy and much more.
Note that the descriptions of these ebooks do not describe or reference all of the content in the ebooks, I have only mentioned selected bits on this page, as including a more detailed key would be too time-consuming. These books contain a wide array of information and comments pertaining to several aspects of language and mythology, and with exception to the Setantii and Journey of language around the Northern Seas books, the other books downloadable on this page do not have much of a good description on this page. Even the aforementioned two books have to be opened to really get a full idea of their content. The book, Ancient languages and their connections, second edition, the Land of Pink Sky, for example, contains so much research and information that it would be impossible to try and encompass it even in basic terms in a few paragraphs on this page.
The first eight visible down this page are titled:
.Languages and dialects of Northwestern Europe, and their heritage
.Language and land - minority and indigenous languages and dialects from different parts of the world
.A wee guide to Trøndersk, Faroese, and some other North-Germanic languages
.Northern Dialects of Scottish Gaelic, with sections on other Celtic languages and upon indigenous American languages
.Language and ancient history – with topics on ancient spirituality, sacred language, and linguistic change in Britain, Frisia and Denmark
.Ancient languages and their connections, second edition, the Land of Pink Sky
.In search of the Setantii and the indigenous cultures and languages of West Lancashire and South Cumbria
.A journey of languages around the Northern Seas with discussions on
Germanic Celtic and Salishan languages second edition
Note that, previously there were four other books published on this site, which were then removed, because their content was updated and included in later books, they are now re-uploaded however, and are listed below, the books themselves are available at the bottom of this page. These earlier copies have a better photo quality and are available at some libraries. I feel it important to note their publication here, (and to re-upload them, as I have). The first two books were posted on the home page, the latter two books were published on the original name for this page, which was New books (from June 2022) page. The original content should be visible in archived forms of this site. Their titles are:
.An Introduction To Language With Particular Focus On The Celtic Languages And Upon Scottish Gaelic Dialects
.Explorations Of God Language And Spirituality Book One
.The Gaelic language on The Isle of Arran, and topics of other languages
.Explorations of God, language and spirituality, book one – expanded and third edition (second ebook edition).
Below in the next part of this webpage is the ebook Languages and dialects of Northwestern Europe, and their heritage
Downloadable ebooks are below
Below is the new book: Languages and dialects of Northwestern Europe, and their heritage - published by Linden Alexander Pentecost, published on this website on the 7th of July 2022. This book contains 305 pages. This book contains the previous books on this website, combined with new material. It includes a lot of topics, spirituality, language and water, archaeology, languages, Celtic and Nordic, mythology, much about Scottish Gaelic dialects included, including articles on individual dialects which have been spelled in dialect spelling, including two articles written entirely in Scottish Gaelic, one article written in Norwegian, and lots of information about Celtic languages in general, etymology, spirituality, Nordic dialects and languages and others. This book contains various sections on Breton and Breton dialects, but there is only one section about standard Breton as a subject, titled Basic Breton, part one. This is the first part of a longer series of articles about Breton. Although his name is not mentioned in the following publication, Rhisiart Hincks has helped me with my articles about Breton as a whole, and he also helped to checked over the article in this book. This article and most of the others in this book were originally published in An introduction to language - with particular focus on the Celtic languages and upon Scottish Gaelic dialects, although the book below, Languages and dialects of Northwestern Europe, and their heritage contains edits and much more material than the older book at the bottom of this webpage. The second article dedicated to Standard Breton, the Breton language, part two is located on pages 25, 26 and 27 of my ebook Language and land – minority and indigenous languages and dialects from different parts of the world
Below is the new book: Language and land - minority and indigenous languages and dialects from different parts of the world by Linden Alexander Pentecost, published on August the 15th 2022 on this website. This book has no material which has been published previously in books, but some of the articles have previously been posted online as individual articles. This book puts those articles into a better format. This book includes a little on Breton, some Bondska and other Nordic languages, ancient language in Scotland and Proto-Norse, Meänkieli among other languages. This book contains 28 pages.
Below is a new ebook, published on the 10th of september 2022, titled A wee guide to Trøndersk, Faroese, and
some other North-Germanic languages - by Linden Alexander Pentecost. This book contains information mostly about different North-Germanic languages, including comments on Orkney Norn etymologies and their possible connection to Proto-Norse/Proto-Germanic. This book contains 26 pages
Below is another ebook, also published on the 10th of september 2022, titled: Northern Dialects of Scottish Gaelic, with sections on other Celtic languages and upon indigenous American languages - by Linden Alexander Pentecost. As a brief description, this includes for example information on Torridon Gaelic, Ancient British/Common Brittonic and various other topics and languages. This book contains 33 pages.
Below is a new ebook, titled Language and ancient history – with topics on ancient spirituality, sacred language, and linguistic change in Britain, Frisia and Denmark - published by Linden Alexander Pentecost. This book contains 26 pages, and includes topics on sacred language, including the symbolism and meaning of the Sophia and Ilmatar myths, with artwork done by the author; followed by sections on language in Denmark, Frisia and Britain, and their context within the changing environments and sea levels. - published 20th of October 2022
Below is a new ebook titled: Ancient languages and their connections, second edition, the Land of Pink Sky - by Linden Alexander Pentecost, published the 15th November 2022, this book contains 373 pages. A book containing a lot of articles, cognate lists and general information from my exploration of language, followed by a Brythonic/Welsh/Arthurian themed fictional story to attempt to give greater context. The first part of this book contains a vast amount of pre-Indo-European research material, as well as things on a wide number of other languages. There is for example, some Cumbric too.
Note: the fictional section of this book, The Land of Pink Sky, contains a large number of swear words, just warning you! The first part of the book contains a few swear words, but, for etymological purposes.
Note also that this book was briefly published on the 13th of september, before being edited once more and re-uploaded
Below is a new ebook (December 19th 2022), this covers the 'region' that might be associated with the Setantii, the book is titled: In search of the Setantii and the indigenous cultures and languages of West Lancashire and South Cumbria, by Linden Alexander Pentecost. This book covers research into the Setantii, possible evidence of their language, spiritual beliefs, connecting this to worldwide traditions of a thunderbird deity, in Finnish kokkolintu. This book also includes information on potential archaeological sites in the region, which I have come across, or found. This book contains 29 pages.
Below is an ebook, titled: A journey of languages around the Northern Seas with discussions on
Germanic Celtic and Salishan languages second edition, published December the 23rd, 2022. This book was originally published on amazon, but never printed. The book includes information and articles on various topics and languages, including Germanic languages around the North-Sea, Anglo-Norse, Old Northumbrian, Shetlandic, ancient Shetlandic words such as yoag, and its connection with 'yoga' and the cosmic egg concept, East Perthshire Gaelic and St Kilda Gaelic articles, a section on Nuxalk (Salishan), (these last three are completely separate from the sections on those languages on the www.bookofdunbarra.co.uk webpage), as well as the Scanian language, Bohuslänska Swedish, Cumbrian dialect, and various other areas of information. This book contains 44 pages.
In my opinion, a very important section in this ebook is with regards to the Finns on Fetlar and the Funzie Girt, where I try to look at archaeological and linguistic evidence to demonstrate that Finns could have been a name given to indigenous peoples in Shetland who may have arrived during the Mesolithic period. This is a short section on page 25. I also discuss some very interesting possible cognates between Scottish Gaelic and Finnish.
Note that some of the topics in this book have been discussed in a different way, with different evidence and information, in other books, thus all of the books are needed in order to completely understand my research.
Note that page 36 was originally the last page of this book, hence why towards the end of page 36 it is written "I hope that this book was enjoyable, and God bless". However I later added the sections on Scanian after this point, making the book 44 pages in length.
Below is one of the already published ebooks on this website, titled The Gaelic language on The Isle of Arran , and topics of other languages which has been re-uploaded after reconsidering removing it from the website. The re-uploaded book was re-uploaded on the ninth of December 2022. I originally removed it because most of the material for this book was included in Languages and dialects of northwestern Europe, and their heritage - note that this aforementioned book further up this page, Languages and dialects of northwestern Europe, and their heritage also contains lots of other material that has not been included in any of the older ebooks on this site.
Book below: Explorations of God, language and spirituality, book one – expanded and third edition (second ebook edition) This book is another one of the ebooks which was previously published on this website. Below is the second ebook, titled Explorations of God, language and spritituality, uploaded to this website. This version though has better image quality is better in the book below, which is why I re-uploaded it. It is an earlier and less detailed version of the version shown next up from this book. This book was re-uploaded on the ninth of December 2022. Most of the content is identical to that in Languages and dialects of Northwestern Europe and their heritage - note that this aforementioned book further up this page, Languages and dialects of northwestern Europe, and their heritage also contains lots of other material that has not been included in any of the older ebooks on this site.
